If you are a natural person, you can obtain a digital signature from the Hellenic Public Administration Certification Authority (APED), after having issued an approved digital signature certificate (digital certificate). A prerequisite is to have acquired, at your expense, the Qualified Signature Creation Device (QSCD) (special USB token device).

The steps to obtain a digital signature are as follows:

1. get an Approved Signature Creation Device (ASCD)
2. issue a formal declaration
3. apply online by using the APED application portal
4. visit a Citizens' Service Centre (KEP) for identification
5. install the necessary software on the computer where the digital certificate will be issued
6. issue the digital certificate

Once you have issued the digital certificate, you will be able to sign electronically, while the digital signature will have equivalent validity to your handwritten signature.
