You can search for certified translators who are included in the Register of Certified Translators of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Certified translators translate officially, from a foreign language into Greek and vice versa, providing their services as freelancers:
- public and private documents, provided either by individuals or public authorities
- public documents of foreign countries, as defined by the Hague Convention, as long as they are validated with the "APOSTILLE" stamp, in the case that they originate from an authority of a country that is a party to the Convention
- in any other case, as long as the documents are certified by the Greek consular authority in the country of origin of the document, or are certified by the consular authority of that country in Greece and are validated by the competent office of the Service and Information Centre for Greek Citizens and Expatriates (KEPPAE). For documents from countries for which Greece has expressed reservations regarding their accession to the Hague Convention and as long as these reservations have not been lifted, the validation is carried out only by the relevant Greek consular authority.
The official translation of private documents is carried out for documents that are authenticated or certified. Certified translators may also translate non-authenticated, non-validated, unsigned or computerised private documents; however, such translations are not considered to be official.
