You can apply for the renewal of your Greek driving licence at least 2 months before it expires. You can also apply after the expiry date if you do not drive a vehicle in the meantime.

You will need to:

• enter your personal Taxisnet credentials
• upload your photo and a sample of your signature (you may use the myphoto application)
• the electronic fee (the application will guide you to its issuance and payment)
• enter your Tax Identification Number (AFM) and your Social Insurance Number (AMKA)
• enter your e-mail address
• enter your mobile phone number

The process is completed in steps:

A. Medical examination process

• when you log in to the application, you are assigned a four-digit number (PIN) and you will be notified of the specialties of the physicians for which an examination is required
• you visit the physicians and provide them with your four-digit number (PIN), you Tax Identification Number (AFM) and your Social Insurance Number (AMKA)
• upon completion of the medical examination, the application is automatically updated
• the same process is repeated with the same code number (PIN) for all other physicians required
• if you are deemed fit to drive by all physicians, you will be notified by the application by text message (sms) and an email, informing you that you can complete your application within (6) months, i.e. while the medical certificates are still valid.

B. Application completion

• you need to upload your photo, as designated, and a file with your scanned hand-written signature
• you will then have to issue and pay the applicable electronic fee

C. Receiving a new licence

• choose how you want to collect your new driving licence
• you or your authorised representative can collect the licence from the Region, by handing over the old driving licence

In all process steps, you will be informed by the application by email and SMS.
