You can apply for an exemption from your military service obligation if you are a widowed father of at least one living minor or of an unmarried child who is unfit for any work.

When to apply:

• if you are a conscript, from the call for enlistment until the date of your enlistment in the Armed Forces. If the application is submitted at a later date, the exemption is granted if the conditions related to your person were met on the date of your enlistment
• if you are a private soldier, at any time after your enlistment
• if you are a draft evader or a deserter: after the discontinuation of your evasion or desertion

You will need:

• your personal Taxisnet credentials
• a certificate from the municipality for military use, attesting your family status, and a court decision in case of a judicial declaration of parentage.
• a formal declaration in which the person alleged to be unfit for any work states that he/she does not practice any profession or work, and the health reasons invoked.
