If you wish to sell your private vehicle (PV), you can carry out the ownership transfer completely digitally, without having to physically visit any public service.
Conditions:
- Both the seller and the buyer must be natural persons.
- To transfer 100% of the ownership of your vehicle (passenger or two-wheeler), your vehicle must be in circulation and no vehicle tax must be due.
- The vehicle needs to have a valid inspection certificate issued by a Vehicle Technical Control Centre (KTEO) card (if the vehicle is less than four years old, there is no such requirement).
- There should be no retention of ownership of the vehicle or, if there is one, it needs to have been effected more than 7 years before the date the registration licence was issued in your name.
- None of the following observation codes should be indicated on the registration licence: 003, 004, 005, 008, 023, 024, 030, 037, 039, 048, 064, 080, 084, 090, 092, 093, 097, 128, 133, 134, 135, 176, 178, 179, 182.
- There should be no other application in progress for the specific vehicle.
The process steps are as follows:
- The seller selects the vehicle he/she exclusively owns and wants to transfer and the system automatically checks the conditions required to continue the process.
- The seller selects the transport directorate of the Region to which the application will be filed and enters the buyer's Tax Identification Number (AFM).
- The buyer receives an update by text message (sms) and email message to log in to the application, accept the transaction and declare whether he/she or his/her representative will collect the new licence.
- The buyer and the seller, upon completion of the application, will automatically receive at their Citizen's Inbox a certificate indicating that the application was filed and that the conditions are met for the transfer of ownership of the vehicle. The certificate bears the security features of gov.gr. With this certificate, the buyer can insure and drive the vehicle in the process of being transfer within the Greek territory for a period of thirty (30) days.
- The buyer needs to visit the transport directorate of the Region indicated in the application to collect the new registration certificate, by presenting:
- the current vehicle registration certificate (completed and signed by both parties)
- the proof of payment of the vehicle tax and ownership transfer fees.
You will need to:
- enter your personal Taxisnet credentials (after first registering in the National Communication Register (EMEP), in order to confirm your mobile phone number)
- fill in the buyer's Tax Identification Number (AFM) (applies to the seller)
