If you are a foster parent, you can apply for financial aid to cover the living needs of your foster child. You can receive the financial aid if you are in foster care and have reached the age of majority.
Requirements
- you must have been appointed foster parents by court order or by contract as defined by the legislative framework
- the fostering act needs to have been registered in the National Register of Approved Fostering of Minors by the supervisory bodies
In cases of granting the fostering allowance after the person in foster care has reached the age of majority, the beneficiaries of the financial aid are:
- the foster parents of a disabled person in foster care, unless the latter attends a formal education or vocational training institution recognised by the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs or fulfils his military service obligation
- the adult in foster care, in all other cases
Details relating to the allowance
The allowance amounts to:
- three hundred and twenty-five Euros (€325) for children of typical development
- three hundred and seventy-five Euros (€375) for children with a disease, which results in disability of any nature and degree and it is documented by the relevant certification of the Disability Certification Centres (KEPA)
The amount of financial aid for children with a disease can be increased, as the application allows you to apply, at the same time, and in addition to the fostering allowance, for:
- the corresponding welfare allowance documented by the relevant certification of the Disability Certification Centres (KEPA)
- the certification of their disability by the KEPA in order to receive, after that, the welfare allowance
You will need to:
- enter your personal Taxisnet credentials
- enter your Social Insurance Number (AMKA)
- enter your bank account number (IBAN) in a Greek financial institution
- enter your mobile phone number and email address
- attach any disability certificate issued by the KEPA of the foster child
