You can apply to be exempted from the obligation to fulfil your military service if you have been irrevocably convicted by any criminal court to imprisonment or to a sentence which in the case of military personnel entails dismissal and for which there is no subsequent amnesty, pardon or statute barring, eliminating the consequences of the conviction.

When to apply:

• if you are a conscript: from the call for enlistment until the date of your enlistment in the Armed Forces. If the application is submitted at a later date, the exemption is granted if the conditions related to your person were met on the date of your enlistment
• if you are a private soldier, at any time after you enlistment
• if you are a draft evader or a deserter: after the discontinuation of your evasion or desertion

• a copy of criminal record for court use or official documents of a foreign state
