You can apply for an exemption from the obligation to fulfil your military service if you are a monk in a monastery of Mount Athos or in the Monastery of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem.

When to apply:

• if you are a conscript: from the call for enlistment until the date of your enlistment in the Armed Forces. If the application is submitted at a later date, the exemption is granted if the conditions related to your person were met on the date of your enlistment
• if you are a private soldier, at any time after you enlistment
• if you are a draft evader or a deserter: after the discontinuation of your evasion or desertion

You will need:

• your personal Taxisnet credentials
• a certificate from the monastery in which you are a monk. If you are a monk in Mount Athos, the above certificate needs to be validated by the Supervisory Committee
