You can apply for postponement of your conscription in the Armed Forces, of acquiring seafaring skills, if you meet all of the following criteria:

• you are legally outside the Armed Forces
• you are a high school graduate
• you have a seaman's service book

When to apply:
You need to submit the supporting documents after 1 January of the year of your nineteenth (19th) birthday, and until the date of your mandatory enlistment. If these documents are submitted later, the enlistment postponement is only granted if the conditions applied on the date of enlistment.

You will need:

• your personal Taxisnet credentials
• a proof or copy of high school graduation certificate or equivalent maritime school diploma
• a copy of your seaman's service book
• a certificate from the competent department of the Ministry of Shipping and Insular Policy
