All available stray animals for adoption are registered and posted on the Panhellenic Platform for the Adoption of Stray Companion Animals that operates in the National Register of Companion Animals.

For the expression of interest you will need your personal Taxisnet credentials

Conditions for the adoption of a pet:

• have reached the age of 18
• not be registered with the Register of Offenders for Pet Misconduct maintained by the Athens Public Prosecutor's Office
• have not delivered an animal to a municipality for three years before the date of adoption.

The authorized employees of the Municipalities, representatives of animal welfare associations / organizations and shelters can post the details of a stray animal for adoption through the Register of Registration and Monitoring of Companion Animals.

To post an animal ad for adoption in PHP you will need:

• your personal Taxisnet credentials, if you are a representative of animal welfare associations / organizations and shelters
• Public Administration Codes, if you are an employee of a municipality
• the microchip code of the animal to be adopted
• the details of the animal to be adopted, which are extracted from the Register of Registration and Monitoring of Companion Animals.
• the photograph of the animal to be adopted
• contact details of the person responsible for the animal as well as contact hours
• any links from other websites hosting an advert of the animal
• care costs
• a short text that will facilitate the adoption of the animal

The Panhellenic Adoption Platform also includes:

• kept animals, which their owners wish to be separated for special reasons and cannot continue to care for them if they have an approved application for delivery of the animal to the municipality of their permanent residence.
• animals for euthanasia. Animals for which a euthanasia decision has been taken by the competent legal bodies are published on the Panhellenic Adoption Platform and are also available for adoption.
