Claim the Social Solidarity Allowance for Uninsured Seniors (for members of the Greek minority in Albania)

If you are an expatriate, member of the Greek minority of Albania, and:

  • reside in Greece, and
  • have a Special Expatriate's Identity Card or a naturalisation decision has been issued by 31.12.2022,

you can use the application of the Organisation of Welfare Benefits and Social Solidarity (OPEKA) to claim the social solidarity allowance for uninsured seniors. Your application can also be filed by an authorised user of the Community Centre of your place of residence or by the competent services of your municipality, if there is no Community Centre operating in your place of residence.

If you reside in the Republic of Albania, your application needs to be filed with the Consulates General and the Embassy of the Hellenic Republic in the Republic of Albania.

You will need:

  • the Special Expatriate's Identity Card, attested by a Greek public authority, or the Government Gazette Issue (FEK), in which the decision naturalising you as a Greek expatriate has been published (dated until 31.12.2022)
  • your Tax Identification Number (AFM)
  • your Social Insurance Number (AMKA)
  • the details of an active bank account (IBAN) at a bank operating in Greece
  • a valid email address
  • your mobile phone number
  • your personal Taxisnet credentials

Depending on the case, you may still need to provide additional supporting documents proving:

  • the dissolution of your marriage or of your registered partnership
  • the insurance coverage and pensioning from the Republic of Albania, both for you and your spouse or the other party to the registered partnership
